About Booked Up
Booked Up is a national programme run by Booktrust and supported by the Department for Children, Schools and Families.
Booked Up's goal is to encourage and support reading for pleasure by providing each Year 7 pupil in England with a free book from a list of 12 specially selected titles. Click here to see this year's booklist.
Last year's programme was officially launched by Michael Rosen, the Children's Laureate, on 11 June and was a huge success, with over 630,000 books being given out and nearly 5,400 secondary schools taking part. In November, five regional events were held at which Year 7s had the opportunity to meet some of the 2007 Booked Up authors.
