History, you hear some people say, is boring. It’s about dates and what happened to a lot of kings with the same name but different numbers, it’s about battles, religion, and the acquisition of land and castles, and what some Very Important People did or didn’t do.

A lot of people ask me where the idea for Love, Aubrey came from. Many of them are worried that what happens to Aubrey in the story happened to me in real life. The book is entirely fiction, so nothing in the story actually happened to me or anyone else I know. There are little snippets of things that are from my life, of course, like my sisters secretly transporting their pet fish on trains…

Of course I was delighted when I heard that Boffin Boy and the Forest of the Ninja had been chosen for Booked Up 2010.  I was especially pleased that this title was chosen, as it my favourite in the series.
