Booked Up 2008

Background to Booked Up

Booked Up is a programme encouraging all Year 7 children in England to read for pleasure. The programme aims to give a free book to each child entering secondary school in September 2008. Booked Up is supported by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF).

You can find more information about Booked Up by going to About Booked Up and the FAQs pages of this website.

Following on from the success of the programme in 2007, The Reading Agency has again been commissioned by Booktrust to promote Booked Up to public library and school library services in England.

The aim is to provide children with the opportunity to read all the Booked Up titles for free at their public library; to encourage and promote opportunities for joined-up working between public libraries, school library services and schools and to give positive library messages through the programme and its website.

Participating library services will receive a free set of the selected titles and POS packs according to their individual order, reading activity ideas and support from a Reading Agency Project Manager. We will also be providing linked material on the TRF website and through the Enjoying Reading website for libraries and schools.

Booked Up is a Booktrust book gifting programme.
