Kiss of Death
Malcolm Rose

Twins Kim and Seth and their friend Wes visit the plague village of Eyam on a school trip. Although Seth is interested in the sad tale of villagers who lost their lives to the Black Death, mischievous Kim and Wes are more interested in stealing money from an old well they discover in the village. Little do they know one of the coins they pinch is a 17^th-century lead token, cursed by a man who lost the love of his life to the Plague. Other than the fact that it is surprisingly cold, the two troublemakers don’t notice anything unusual about this coin until they start to develop gruesome, terrifying plague-like symptoms and Seth is left wondering whether the curse was true and if he’ll ever be able to put things right.

Malcolm Rose
Kiss of Death

Malcolm Rose was born in Coventry and began his career as a research
scientist. He started writing stories while studying for his DPhil degree in
chemistry, as a means of escape from everyday life. He is now a full-time
writer best known for his gripping science-based thrillers and forensic
crime series. He had been awarded the Angus Book Award twice and the
Lancashire Children's Book the Year.

"Wes’s hand was already in the slimy water, scooping out handfuls of cold coins.

“Wesley!” Mr. Hanif yelled. “What are you doing?”

“Nothing, sir,” Wes replied. Quickly, he closed his fist around the icy loot. “Just tying my shoelaces.”

“Well, hurry up.”

“That’s a good one, sir. Well! Geddit?” Wes grinned and nodded towards the well before straightening up.

“Come on! Seth and Kim as well.”

Kim laughed. “Well, well. Another well,” she said, trying to distract the history teachers from Wes.

Behind Seth, Wes slipped the cash into his pocket and wiped his wet hand on his trousers. He could feel the coins against his leg. They were surprisingly heavy and, even through the material, they felt uncannily cold against his skin, making him shudder."

Kiss Of Death

Kiss of Death was a great book. It ends on a cliff hanger. Everyone who likes a good mystery, this is the book for you. It can also be a bit gruesome as well but that gets you in the mood for the book

KIss of Death Review

When we were at school during form, we went to the school library and watched a video and got a leaflet on all the books we could get. There was no doubt about it, I was going to get Kiss of Death. I'm interested in the 'Black Death' so I like reading books about it and when I finally came round to reading it I couldn't stop. I will definitely be searching for other Malcolm Rose books as they all look interesting with a slight bit of spook.

The story was quite touching. Especially the last two pages - it sort of made my cry. Apart from that last bit I loved the entire story. I hope Malcolm writes another story like this and if he did I would definitely buy it if I heard about it.

I think it was really scary and it was sad about the curses. It kept you guessing at what was going to happen next. It was quite intriguing.

I read this book a while ago and could'nt put it down! It's great for all those readeras who like an exiting plot.I recomend it!

The kiss of death is a sad and emotional book which makes your heart tender as it is a real place and a real subject that they are talking about and the three friends that got in to trouble over the coin.

i think it sands like it's not to scary but i think you should make saw it's not to scary because people might not choose it because they think that a scary. so you need to make it to scary.

This is one of the best books I havae ever read, and I've read a lot of books, so that is saying something. If you of into the scary, creepy, can't put it down sort of books, you HAVE to read it!

this book takes us back years ago and makes u scream and is stomach turning but it tells us about the black death and its really intresting, i find the poem "a ring a ring a roses " very interesting as i never knew it meant the black death i just thought it was a silly children's rhyme i would give this book a 5 star and people who like being grossed out and like knowing about history would really enjoy this book

kiss of death isa great book for people who like scary books.It is scary and funny at the same time.I could not put this book down at all, I had to read it until i'd finished it.

This book was really exciting the way that at some points of the book you felt like you where there with Kim, Wes and Seth. I was grossed out by some of discription from the hospital. The adventure side was great as well. I think the end of the book was really dramatic, the way in happened and then it suddenly, the book was finished.This book is for confeidant readers from about the age of 9. You should read it. You may even like it!

The Fantastic Book Kiss Of Death

I think that the Kiss of Death is a fantastic book . It's about a class that go on a school trip to the village of Eyam . The story is based on 3 school children / 3 friends that discover something about the past and start haunting them. This book is a THRILLING book ! So why don't you read it??!

Kiss of Death by Malcom Rose. Three friends go camping and find old money that is worth alot. They have a friend that kisses two of them and they cach the black death. My least favourit part is the end. I recommend this book to 11 and over it is very scary but at the same time exciting.

The Krazy Killing Kiss

Kiss of Death is about the Plague that killed over 100,000 people in the 15 Century. Then one day Kim and Wes are visting the musem of the Plague and see a note that unknowingly gives them the plague. Seth, Kim's twin brother has to race aganist time to save his sister and his best friend. My favourite part is the ending. My Least Favorite bit was when Seth was taking the note back to Eyam because as he was making his trip to the place there was to much description and it took it away from the story and I kept chaging the page because it was too much. I recommend this book to a audice ranging from 13 to 15 or something. I really enjoyed it ...!

Kiss of Death book review

I think Kiss of Death is the ideal book for an 11 or 12 year old; Kiss of Death is one of those books you can't out down, all evening i was reading, Malcolm Rose really describes his characters as if they were real. I actually believed the Plague was back! I would definetly give this book a five-star rating!!!

I am only on page 54 but up to now it has been scary and very good and is about a pair of twins and their friend Wes Seth and Kim. Seth and Kim are twins and Wes is their friend it is all about the black death and at the start it is sad because it is a few pages about R.T . We dont know his full name but he has been seeing this girl called Emma and R.T has been seeing her for the last few days and one day she doesn't show he goes back to his original home comes back and Emma had died back in April with all her family and was buried in her garden and he carves in a piece of lead and those 3 friends find it make money and get more and catch the dreeded BLACK DEATH. It is scary and I haven't read it all yet I recomend this book as it is good for our age group and if you are learning about it xx

I think this book is a great book I love the beginning of the book it's realy heart warming and the story line is great .So over all i think this is a great book with a great storyline and it teaches you a bit of history. Well done to the author this is the best book i've read in ages!!!!!!!

The kiss of death really touched me the way it was based in 1666 on the plague i enjoyed reading all of the book the ending wasn't what i expected which is good for a good author! I reccommend you read this book or you will be missing out loads of good stuff!

Best book that I have read in a long time!

The Kiss of Death is a fabulous thriller. The book is about three friends Seth, Kim and Wes. When they steal what they only think is a piece of lead from Eyam Well the past comes back to haunt them. On a trip to a roman museum once again the friends steal another historic piece of lead this time with words on it 'He who wears anothers cloak will be crushed to a rotting corpse'. With the money that they got from selling the Eyam coin Kim buys a new tennis racket and coat. At every page the book made you want to read more, it was hard to put down. A great book to read, you should try it!!!

This book was brilliant.

It was so scary at times but it gave you something to look forward to at the end. It was about three friends who went on a trip and discovered something about the past which came back to haunt them. I thought this book was amazing. It was so exciting. Why don't you read it, you'd probably enjoy it.
